2024 Matcha Shortage
Share
For the first time in matcha's history, we're witnessing an unprecedented supply shortage affecting tea farms across Japan. This unique situation stems from recent challenges: reduced farming capacity during the pandemic and explosive demand, driven by the increased tourism to Japan and matcha's growing global popularity.
While Hawa Matcha partners with several family-operated tea farms in Japan, only our Ceremonial Blend 100g supplier has been significantly impacted. Their tencha (tea leaf) reserves have been nearly depleted, and we expect to resume availability after the next harvest in April or May of 2025.
While we could source from other suppliers immediately, the quality of our Ceremonial Blend is worth waiting for until our trusted farm's next harvest. We'll notify you as soon as it is available again. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
