Hawa Matcha is a Brooklyn-based tea company focused on procuring exceptional matcha from some of the most celebrated multi-generational tea farms in Japan.

Japan's finest tea is often grown in rural, isolated areas by small-scale producers who dedicate their lives to perfecting tea cultivation. These hidden gems rarely reach the global market due to limited yield and high local demand. By building personal relationships with renowned producers, we ensure that the best matcha—often enjoyed only within Japan—becomes accessible to you.

 

We source rare single-origin and single-cultivar matcha from remote areas of Japan, where the historic terroirs, local microclimates, and traditional cultivation techniques yield world-class teas. While our entire collection is considered "ceremonial grade", we prefer to describe our matcha as suitable for usucha (thin tea) or koicha (thick tea), offering a more precise representation of its quality and intended use. 

 

To maintain peak freshness, we purchase our matcha in small batches directly from the producers, use oxygen-free packaging, and air-ship from origin. This approach minimizes the time from harvest to your cup, ensuring you always receive the freshest, pinnacle grade matcha at a fair price.
